My OU Cousin, Thuli, is my new friend from Lesotho. We met through OU’s program for connecting international and domestic students. Since then, despite busy schedules, we have managed to meet up again a few times. So far we have gotten coffee, hung out with her friend (another International Student), and gone to a movie together. I have very much enjoyed getting to know her and I have loved all the stories she has told about her home. So far, we have talked about the climate and geography of Lesotho and southern Africa, her family, the crazy street markets in her home town, and the difference culturally between here and there.
Since coming to the U.S., she has experienced her first snow and learned a lot, I am sure. I think she is incredibly courageous to come study for 4 years in a foreign country and I am so excited to be a part of her time here.
